Many of you hold fond remembrances of your academic achievements and the institution that contributed so immensely to your development. In this spirit, I hope you will consider the value of a new or renewed relationship with your alma mater.
Throughout its history, Baltimore City Community College has meant many things to many people. For some, a degree or certificate earned was simply a means to an end. For others, it was the beginning of a journey that would take them to the pinnacle of academic and career success. Whatever your reason for attending, you are now part of a greater BCCC community – a proud legion of alumni more than 30,000 strong since the College’s foundation. Today, I am inviting you back to the place “from whence you came.” Like me, you probably gained much from your experiences as a student at Baltimore Junior College (BJC), Community College of Baltimore (CCB), New Community College of Baltimore (NCCB), or Baltimore City Community College (BCCC). So allow me to have you take an extra step by volunteering your time, talents and resources to help someone who has yet to fulfill the promise of higher education.
There are many ways to give back to your College. By becoming an active Alumni Association member, you avail yourself of a rich array of volunteer opportunities. Join an alumni committee which could use your help putting together new mentoring, outreach, scholarship and awards programs. Get involved in the Fundraising and Events Committee or help build our voice in Annapolis as part of the Legislative Committee. By mentoring a future alumna or alumnus or helping to select an alumni scholarship recipient, you become a leader in our effort to build new communities and options for Baltimore City residents. The fact is, accomplished BCCC alumni such as you are best positioned to foster a new commitment to learning in this community. Whatever your interest, your BCCC Alumni Association needs you today!
My hat goes off to all Granville T. Woods and Nursing alumni-affiliated groups. I encourage you to form like-affiliated groups. We’re here to support you as well! If you could, please fill out the online contact form or email us at email@example.com. You may also contact me at 410-462-8542 or the Office of Alumni Relations by contacting Thomas Hampton at 410-209-6036.
